Cardrona River Rural Subdivisions, Wanaka

Providing expert landscape evidence for Queenstown Lakes District Council in two Environment Court appeals relating to rural living subdivision of farmland close to the Cardrona River. The key issue in both appeals was the cumulative effects on landscape character and values.

Managed fill and cleanfill, Woodhill

Landscape and visual assessment of a proposed large scale managed fill, on behalf of the developer. The project included the design of mitigation earthworks and planting to screen truck movements from neighbouring sites and the preparation of visual simulations.

War Memorial Park needs assessment

Preparation of a needs assessment for a large sports/community facility park in Mt Roskill. Through a process of consultation with stakeholders, the project established both priority users and key principles to guide future management and development of the park.

Queenstown Lakes Proposed District Plan

Provision of evidence for Council on the potential landscape effects of submissions and Environment Court appeals seeking changes to landscape-related policy, changes to outstanding natural landscape boundaries, or rural rezoning within the district.

Summerset at Heritage Park, Ellerslie

Landscape and visual assessment of a new retirement village in Ellerslie, located on a former quarry site that had been developed into a heritage park. High quality visual simulations of the village were developed in collaboration with U6 Photomontages.

Te Whau Peninsula dwelling, Waiheke

Landscape and visual assessment of a proposed new dwelling in a rural area of Waiheke. The assessment included a planting plan to assist in integrating the house and in mitigating indigenous vegetation removal.

Kennedy Point Marina, Waiheke

Landscape and visual assessment of a proposed marina at Kennedy Point, on behalf of local residents who had submitted in opposition to the proposal. Preparation and presentation of landscape evidence at the resource consent hearing.

Manukau Coastal Walkway network plan & wayfinding strategy

Preparation of a development plan for the Manukau Coastal Walkway network, on behalf of Auckland Council. This was followed by refinement of a wayfinding strategy for the route and project management of signage implementation for some sections.

Queenstown Lakes District Council Rural Visitor Zone

Landscape assessment of 7 existing Rural Visitor Zones in the district, in preparation for a new district plan. The study identified the attributes and values of the context landscapes and the capacity of the zones to absorb additional development.
